Tiempo de lectura: 4 minutos

The way we experience our menstruation is changing. More and more people are choosing solutions that allow them to feel comfortable, free, and connected to their body. At Sensual Intim, we’ve been listening to real needs for years, and that’s how a pioneering innovation in intimate health was born: the first self-emptying menstrual cup on the market, the Eureka! Cup.

Designed and patented by our team, this cup marks a turning point in the menstrual experience. Why? Because it allows you to empty it without removing it, in a hygienic, practical, and discreet way. A solution designed to improve your daily life —especially if you have a heavy flow or spend many hours away from home— and that breaks the limitations of traditional cups.

In this article, we explain what a self-emptying cup is, how it works step by step, and why it can be a transformative ally during your cycle.

What is a self-emptying menstrual cup?

More and more women are opting for sustainable, comfortable, and healthy alternatives to manage their menstruation. On this path, the menstrual cup has been a game changer. And at Sensual Intim, we’ve taken it one step further: we created the world’s first self-emptying menstrual cup, the Eureka! Cup.

But… What does it really mean for a cup to be self-emptying?

A simple definition: empty without removing

Unlike traditional menstrual cups that must be removed from the body to be emptied, the self-emptying menstrual cup incorporates a small internal draining system. This mechanism allows you to eliminate the contents without removing the cup, with complete discretion and anywhere, even if there’s no sink nearby.

The idea is simple yet transformative: you can empty the cup without interrupting your routine or feeling uncomfortable in public restrooms or unprepared spaces.

Eureka! Cup: the pioneering self-emptying menstrual cup

The Eureka! Cup is an exclusive and patented design by Sensual Intim. It was developed with our team of sexologists and real users, with a clear goal: to stop menstruation from being a logistical problem. Thanks to its retractable tube, which activates when you need it, you can easily empty the cup wherever you are.

It’s an especially good option for those with a heavy flow, who spend long hours away from home, or who simply want a more practical and free menstrual experience.

How does the self-emptying menstrual cup work?

Below, we explain step by step how to use the self-emptying menstrual cup so you can enjoy a comfortable, practical, and worry-free experience during your menstrual cycle.

1. Initial sterilization of the menstrual cup

Before the first use in each cycle, it’s essential to sterilize the Eureka! Cup self-emptying menstrual cup to ensure optimal hygiene:

  • In the microwave: Place the cup in the Sensual Intim sterilizing cup with water and heat it for 2–3 minutes.
  • In boiling water: Submerge the cup in a pot of boiling water for 4 minutes.

2. Folding the menstrual cup

To facilitate insertion, you can fold the cup in two ways:

  • C-shape: Fold the cup in half to form a “C”.
  • U-shape: Press one of the four notches toward the center of the cup.

You can place the tube inside the C-fold to insert it directly, or do so once the cup is already inside the vagina.

3. Inserting the menstrual cup

With clean hands, follow these steps:

  1. Separate the vaginal lips with one hand.
  2. With the other hand, insert the folded cup into the vagina until it is completely inside.
  3. Once released, the cup will unfold and adjust to the vaginal walls.
  4. Make sure the tube remains inside the vagina, in a vertical position.

4. Checking the seal

To ensure the cup is well placed and avoid leaks:

  • Gently rotate the menstrual cup once inserted.
  • Run a finger around the base to ensure it has fully unfolded.

5. Emptying without removal

One of the advantages of the Eureka! Cup is that you can empty it without removing it. Here’s how to do it step by step:

  1. Wash your hands with water and mild soap.
  2. Insert two fingers into the vagina and hold the tube, keeping it pressed to prevent premature flow.
  3. Direct the end of the tube toward the toilet.
  4. Release the pressure on the tube to let the menstrual flow empty into the toilet.
  5. Once emptied, clean the tube if needed and reinsert it into the vagina, making sure it stays in a vertical position.

6. Full removal of the self-emptying menstrual cup

It’s recommended to remove and clean the self-emptying menstrual cup every 8–12 hours:

  1. Wash your hands.
  2. Grab the base of the cup (not the tube) and gently press to break the vacuum seal.
  3. Carefully remove the cup.

7. Cleaning and storing the cup

During your cycle:

  • Wash the menstrual cup with water and mild soap after each emptying.

At the end of your cycle:

  • Sterilize the cup as explained above.
  • Air-dry and store it in its fabric pouch until next use.
